There are three ways of holding shares in France: pure registered shares, administered registered shares and bearer shares.
A distinction should be made between pure registered shares, which are registered directly in the books of the company issuing the shares or with a registrar appointed by it (e.g. Uptevia), and administered registered shares, which are held by a financial intermediary (e.g. a bank).
What are the differences between the two types of holding?
Some companies promote registered shares and offer their shareholders special privileges:
– Higher dividends,
– Double voting rights,
– Personalised information,
– Preferential rates on branded products,
– shareholder clubs, etc.
Did you know? Uptevia allows you to manage your shares (buy, sell or view your portfolio) independently on the Uptevia Investors website.
